Casinos are for adults only. In Canada the minimum age is 19 in most provinces and 18 in Québec; elsewhere it depends on where you are.
Timber, stone and copper tones run through the public rooms, and the work of First Nations artists is hung and set into the walls. The entertainment hall is a large flat-floored room with a full stage, laid out for concerts rather than banquets. Restaurants and the spa open off one wide concourse.
The resort opened in 1996 on the reserve of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, which owns the site, and it has been enlarged more than once since. Hotel towers stand behind a long low front, and an entertainment hall, a spa, restaurants and a golf course belong to the same operation. The buildings are spread across open ground rather than stacked, so the walk between parts of the resort is a real one.
Rama is in Simcoe County in central Ontario, next to Orillia and on the eastern shore of Lake Couchiching, where the Trent-Severn Waterway passes through. The country around is mixed forest, lake and small township roads. Driving north from Toronto takes about an hour and a half on Highway 11.
